Is it possible to sell a domain registered elsewhere?

Is it possible to sell my domain name on GoDaddy but leave it on my existing domain registrar?

Hi @maildropus,

Yes, you can definitely sell domains in the GoDaddy Auctions that are registered with any registrar. You will need an auctions membership here. However, GoDaddy recommends you transfer the domain to them, which includes a one-year extension to the current registration period. All domains should be more than 60 days from expiration, when listed.

If the domain sells in auction, it's common that your buyer would need to buy a transfer, delaying the completion of the sale. If a GoDaddy customer buys the domain, and it's already in a GoDaddy account, a quick change of account is all that would be required.
