Any way to set up Blog on the builder?

I am in the first phase of setting this up and familiarizing myself with the service. I was attempting to set up a page for blogging purposes but noticed it didn't have one specified as a section. Am I just supposed to add via content as I go? Will it remain organized? Can I archive?

    Thanks in advance

GoCentral site builders are not intended for blog sites, so it doesn't provide a way of writing or maintaining such posts for the site. If you're looking for a more traditional blogging site, you'll want to consider another application such as WordPress for this purpose.

Glad to hear you're using our new blog tool!  We're just getting started with it so be on the lookout for additional functionality!

As for the issue with pasting copy into the blog editor, we know about that.  It's mostly related to MS Word (or other sophisticated app) placing formatting characters in the document.  Our editor reads the characters differently that the word processing tools do.  We're researching ways to strip those characters out, without altering the formatting of the text, but haven't cracked it yet.

In the meantime, you should be able to copy/paste from other text creation tools that don't add all the additional formatting.  Most "notepad" type apps should be fine.  You can also try saving the word processing document as .txt, that will help in some situations.

    Thanks again!

It's a non-starter without blogging capabilities. IMHO, GoDaddy R&D needs to head back into the lab and add this piece.

The orignial site builder allowed me to just enter a web address to my blog and it would direct people to it when that page was clicked. Can i do this in go central?

What I find regrettable is that WP hosting isn't included with hosting service.  I understand monetization, and hosting is a way to get more $.

What if I want to build my own WP site, do it myself, and just have GD host it, not manage it as well?  Is that a possibility?

Go Central needs to develop a Blog page this will help improve websites and get more activity on sites

    Getting Started

To stay competitive, Godaddy should offer a blog component on their GoCentral Website Builder. Wix offers adding a blog to an online store and I am considering changing for this reason.  I'd prefer to stay with GoDaddy as I appreciate the great customer service! Will someone at GoDaddy suggest this additon to GoCentral.  I don't want to do Word Press, it's too complicated.

How can I add a blog to a GoCentral Website?

I began building my company website and loved all the features of the GoCentral except I realized as I was finishing up there is no way that I have found to add a blog. In today's world that's one of the most important features for small businesses to generate potential customers to their site. If there is no solution, that is a HUGE oversight and failure on GoDaddy's part. They will lose so many businesses that need that single feature to survive. Not worth the price.

    I have the same opinion.

Just realized the same -- a head scratcher, really...

I totally agree.  Blogs and fluid data are very much important for EVEN business sites.  It is silly to allow even a blog feed to shuttle someone away from your site.  I don't like it at all.  I picked this site AFTER losing out on my WordPress through Go Daddy for this new service.

    I agree.  What a waste.

My understanding (in using the builder), and what Ive done is to add a "blog" page. Then I added a blog section, where I can link to any blog. In this case, it's my own WP blog. Yes, it sucks that GD cant integrate this, but it seems to work so far. Learning here.

That's what I was thinking...just add a page to my website titled "Blogs", then link to a blog site...or just copy and paste my blogs, change them out occasionally, and still include links. Any other suggestions?

Were you--toneyscamilla--able to get this up and working? Did you run into any issues at all? Thanks.

    Hi @Hopeful,

Not sure if you've seen this info but you can add a blog feed to your GoCentral website. Here's the instructions on how to do this https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-blog-feed-to-my-website-26410

That link to add a blog to GoCentral Website is not working

I have been able to set up a blog via Tumbler and link it into a window on my GoCentral Website Builder page.  From the desired GoCentral page for your website, just click the Blog/RSS button on the left menu to open a blog window on your GoCentral page.  You must have a tumbler account/page already set up.  Then you can change the default "http://foodnetwork.tumblr.com" setting to your own tumblr page.  When I add to Tumbler, it automatically shows on my website the last 5 or 10 Tumbler posts (you specify how many).

So now, I do my own social media from Instagram, which automatically updates Tumbler/Facebook/Twitter if the links are turned on (you control which are).  Keeps all those in sync with web blog with one Instagram  post.

It works for me. I just set up a blog page and posted my first blog post. It does have some limitations however. If you have an article already written and try to do a copy & paste into Webuilder, it won't let you paste - you have to enter it manually. Also, there is no way for people to comment on your post like in a regular blog where comment threads are supported. But... it's better than nothing.

Oh, and re: Comments - that's definitely on our list to add sooner rather than later.  We have a few other things in the works right now, but commenting will be up next!

    Thanks!
