How can more flexibility be built into the website builder beyond its current capabilities?  I realize WordPress is integration capable for GoDaddy, but can't we make our system more to the WP flexibility?

Hi @MktgPtnrs, thank you for your question. You are correct that GoCentral does not have as much flexibility and integrations as WordPress. The GoCentral product is intended to be a mobile-first, fast and simple way for a small business to get an online presence. After speaking with small business owners we found that instead of spending time moving fields pixel by pixel and adding plug-ins, they would rather get a site up quickly with a guarantee that it will look good on all devices. The idea is that business owners can get back to spending more time on their business. We are constantly adding features to GoCentral and building industry-specific integrations that will help our customers grow their business.  We will also continue to add more flexibility with design, choices and options, and as part of the GoCentral goal we guarantee that the website will always look good, no matter how you design your site.  For our customers that prefer to have more flexibility and control over their website design we encourage them to use our managed WordPress product.

Thank you again for the question, and thank you for being a GoDaddy customer.

    Getting Started

Why does GoDaddy keep removing features with each release of Website Builder? In reading the help topics, it appears that a script builder was available in the previous version of Website Builder, but is now absent. I need this functionality for my business's site, as we have to provide a disclosure when users are exiting via a 3rd party link and a javascript popup would be the most efficient way to do this. Please restore this functionality.

Additionally, it seems you make WB less and less user friendly. If you modify a theme (for example remove a header or footer object) it's difficult to add it back. The whole point of using WB over hosting with Linux is user friendliness. I would prefer to host and build my own site, but I need the ability to have someone take over in my absence and no one else here has the knowledge I do.

Hi @akbrunner, appreciate the question you posted.

I'm sorry to hear about your frustrations with the HTML capabilities.  We are investigating this to see how we can enable it while still being friendly for novices.

Separately, we have been focusing the development of this product to be easier to use than the traditional drag-and-drop site builder products especially for the tech novices (we've been running competitive usability studies as well).  Thank you for the feedback on the header/footer removal though, we'll look into how we can improve usability of the editor based on everything we've heard so far.

    Best,

    Justin

Thank you for addressing my issues. Does the new GoCentral platform address some of the issues I'm experiencing? If so, how soon do you expect to have a migration strategy in place for those on Website Builder v7?

    Getting Started

I'm hosting a website in CPANEL with Wordpress and we are using Gravity Form so that people can send their resumes to us.

The problem is that we cannot receive an email with the form filled and attachements sent. (We just get the form filled out in WordPress and have to check there everytime.)

I've tried SMTP Mailer , Easy WP SMTP, WP-Mail-SMTP so that we can get it in our personnal email mailbox but nothing is going on. Apparently it's GoDaddy server who's blocking it or something.

How can I unable it so that we can get emails with attachements when people are filling out the form?

    Thanks

    Hey @Brio,

Thanks so much for the great question! Since this AMA is focused on GoCentral, it would be great if you would post this question in the cPanel Hosting forum. We have so many great people who will be able to help. Take care!

Guess I'm in the dark. This is first I'm hearing (or aware of) regarding GoCentral. I am confused... is this going to replace my current Business Website Builder? Or is it an additional product independent of current website builder? If it is going to replace, is there documentation available which explains in more detail what features and/or functionality will change?

Thanks for asking this question @Catfish. GoCentral is the new product that was launched recently, but its more than just a website builder. It’s a suite that includes Website Builder, Online Store, SEO and Email marketing, all integrated into one product.  Features vary depending on the plan you choose and you can see the plan details here: https://www.godaddy.com/websites/website-builder

Just to give you more info, GoCentral is built mobile first and it’s completely responsive. So you can build your website from desktop, tablet or mobile. It also supports templates for over 1500 industries and uses rich imagery from Getty.  You can try the product for free for a month without entering any payment information.

If you need more documentation or have any questions, check out our help (https://www.godaddy.com/help/gocentral-1000041) or post your questions here in this community. We are here to help!

    Getting Started

    5. Let me start by saying I love the ease with which I was able to create my website with Website Builder. I like how it is responsive to views on mobile devices ... except one area, tables. My site is non-commercial, I don't sell anything. It is a resource site for a senior softball league. I have a number of tables with game schedules and results and league standings. When these are viewed on my iPhone 6+ a number of the table columns are not visible.

    Example: http://www.mauiseniorsoftball.com/2017-standings-schedule.html

One other issue that I found a work around for:

I have a page where I display a picture of each team and below it, again in a series of tables, I list the names and then the teams current roster. I had a problem getting the image to anchor where I wanted it to be displayed. The work around I found was to upload the image to my business site, where I have ftp access and then insert the reference to the image in a table cell using the <img src=.... > tag. This works but it would be nice to be able to reference a folder on the Website Builder site.

    Example: http://www.mauiseniorsoftball.com/teams.html

In a FireFox browser if you right click on an image on this page and select "View Image Info" you'll see the reference to my business site: www.proteasofhawaii.com/images/ ...(file name of the image).

Tech support suggested I convert over to a WordPress based site so I'm now trying to learn WP!!

    Thanks for the question @MauiLon.

It looks like you're using the previous version of our Website Builder product (not the new one, GoCentral). I'm able to reproduce your problem on the iPhone 6SP, we'll open up a bug to investigate it.

We are currently working on a feature for GoCentral Website Builder to make responsive tables with an easy to use mobile editor for them.

Why do you block copy & paste functions on website builder pages? You can update navigation, settings. I have a problem that makes it difficult to use ctl c , etc. Not been able to get a good answer when I've asked in the past. and It is allowed on all other godaddy pages

Hi, @tom1940, thank you for your question!  I'm assuming you're referring to our older product, Website Builder (not the new one, GoCentral) -- is that correct?  I am having a hard time replicating your issue, though, as I am able to right-click and copy, cut and paste using only a mouse in our text fields.

Here's a screenshot that shows what I am seeing -- are you not getting the copy/paste menu when you right-click?

In the future, you may want to check out our new GoCentral Website Builder, as we've taken steps to simplify the builder drastically as well as making it completely mobile friendly.

I have the same issue in Google Chrome. It says it's a browser settings issue, though I'm not sure which one and since I can use the keyboard shortcuts I haven't bothered to look into it further.

Hi @akbrunner - this can happen in some browsers / platforms.  In certain circumstances browsers prevent JavaScript from adding information to the copy / paste as a security measure.  However you should always be able to use Ctrl + C/V (or Cmd + C/V on macOs) to perform a copy paste.

    Screen Shot 2017-02-14 at 12.50.12 PM.png

I do not see options to build tables in GoCentral. Can we make it simple enough all these options for user?

Hi @inder_tej, thanks for the question!  And what a great one it is -- we're currently working on it right now!  It would be great if you could give us some ideas of how you intend to use tables in your page, so we can make sure we're building the right thing.

    Thanks again!

I would like to use tables for schedulers and result page for my fishing tournament website. right now i am using alternate for tables. i am using menu/pricing menu for that (https://31dodgefishing.com/schedules). but there are some limitation when it comes to using that menu. Thank you for looking into it @JoshB

Awesome!  Sounds like our table solution would work pretty well in this case.  You'll be happy to hear we're also working on a scheduling solution that may offer some functionality that will help.  Great site, by the way, and that tournament looks like a blast!
