Spam stop suggestion

Hello.
I use GoDaddy hosting and domain services for more then 10 years but only recently I've started to use GoDaddy Community.
I was surprised by the high volume of SPAM (usually typed in chinese).
These photos are from today:

I suggest that a new user should be allowed to create a maximum 1 new topic / day / section, maybe like this we can limit the spam.

What do you think about this rule?
Any other ideas on how to limit the spam?

Thank you for taking the time to read and replay to this topic.

Re: Spam stop suggestion

I agree,

I am new to the community and my very first impression was WTF??? There should be more active moderating of the community boards. I tried today to get ahead of it, fast forward 100 pages later, still Chinese, unreal. It seems to be the same idiots over and over, it should be easy for Godaddy to set up a 'report' spam or offensive button. I think they are trying to cheat with the 'kudos' feature. As if it would increase their standing in the 'real' world.

It's bloody annoying and until Godaddy get a grip on it I'll be staying away from the 'community boards'.

Hey @Anonymous</a>, @Adrian8,

Appreciate your feedback on this matter. I was recently addressing this very issue in another discussion at Why Is There So Much Spam On The Boards? This was a very unfortunately timed first impression, but I can assure you this is not a normal occurrence within the community. Doing everything we can to prevent this from occurring further.

Re: Spam stop suggestion

@CG

In the last days I was actively trying to help the community by giving answers to the questions raised, but because the amount of spam was so high, I had difficulties in finding the new topics.

I do not think that those who create the spam are GoDaddy customers in the sense that they do not have any purchase made.

Please tell me if my assumption is correct:
-I assume that the GoDaddy Community is created for the GoDaddy customers

If that assumption is correct, maybe you can implement a rule in which only the GoDaddy accounts who have an active purchased product are able to write and ask question in the GoDaddy Community.

That could be a solution to our problem.

Re: Spam stop suggestion

Hey @Adrian8

I can't go into full detail of our findings and measures taken so far here since this is open to the public (including our offending parties), but I will say your assumptions are not far off.

Participation in the community does require an active customer account setup in order to post topics or comment on existing discussions. With that in mind, your suggestion to try limiting the participation to accounts with an active purchase is something I can definitely pass along to our developers to look into implementing.

In the meantime, I personally want to thank you for efforts in helping out other members in legitimate discussions (I have noticed Smiley Wink). Hopefully we can get something put in place as a temporary measure to slow the tide till more permanent measures can be fully established.
