Just wanted to see if and when Managed Wordpress hosting will support HTTP/2?
Looking at the HTTP headers, my site seems to be served from ApacheTrafficServer which DOES support http2 as of v6 I believe, but its being loaded via 1.1

Hi @aod. Welcome to GoDaddy Community!
That's a good question. I'm not sure if that's something that's in the works or not. I'll make sure to pass on the suggestion, though. It would be interesting to hear from other Community members on this as well to see if this is a common interest/concern.
Hey @aod. Just wanted to circle back and let you know that this is definitely something we're looking to implement. One of our developers confirmed this for me. This will probably happen within the first part of next year.
Hi Jesse - just wanted to support this improvement. I came here looking to ask the same question regarding http/2 - is there any way to receive notification on when the service will be available?
Hi, @Wolfcoach. Thanks for being part of GoDaddy Community!
There isn't any kind of update feed that you would be able to subscribe to. Ideally, I'll be able to update this thread when the update occurs, though.
I am wanting to move towards HTTP/2 as well and would very much like to know when GoDaddy implements it. I will come back here often for updates, thank you.
I am looking for http/2 support as well in shared hosting (I did not find a separate thread). That and the next step up for php (since 5.6 is now officially not supported that Godaddy just updated to).
I'm looking for this too - recently updated several sites with SSL certs and https:// protocol. I'd like the benefits of http/2 as well! Hopefully it will be automatic if the site is https? Or will we be notified somehow that it's available and we can opt in? IMO it should just be automatic if https:// is already in place.
What is the status of HTTP/2 for Godaddy Web Hosting? This is absolutely necessary now. Our hosting plan expires before the end of this year, not going to renew it and will move to a new host who does support HTTP/2 if Godaddy doesn't.
Yes, our new Pro Managed WordPress product (https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/pro-wordpress-hosting) includes HTTP/2 support.
It also includes PHP 7.1, MySQL 5.7, free SSL, runs in a containerized environment, includes a free GravityForms license, has a dedicated WordPress support team and more.
Pro looks excellent. Already a big fan of the current product. Question would be; will the resellers be able to sell this product as well?
Hi @moocows I'm unsure, I recommend asking in that forum. I only work on our Managed WordPress platform.
Hello @Gabe can you ask your colleagues on the other side if the http/2 Support will be available in the future on business hosting and shared hosting? Thank you so much.
I'm interested in the Pro WordPress offering, but looks like its in a closed beta? Any word when that will be generally available to all and any idea on pricing?
Also, will that have the same restrictions on plugins like the standard managed wordpress? For example, not being able to use certain caching plugins?
Hi @moocows sorry for the late reply. Yes, we have enough users so we've closed the Pro MWP beta. It'll open back up as soon we finish beta. Plans will remain as they were during beta (starting at ~$10/mo.) and include SSL, 90 days of backups and more.
There are no restrictions on plugins (no blacklist) but you may experience issues if you add a plugin that conflicts with platform functionality.
@Gabe, Any chance the resellers will also get product offering soon?
Hey @MikeOne We're doing our brand reseller work in parallel. Once the product exits beta I can't imagine it'd be too long until other resellers get it. Once we get out of beta I can check with the reseller team, I don't think there should be too much work involved.
Hello. I'm happy to say that it is absolutely planned! That and several other performance improvements are in the works.
Is there any release date for this. I see this initial post was from 2016, we are now 2019 and i still see items "its is planned". So its been planned for 3 years already?
@schroef That's a fair point, I should have provided more details. Here's more context:
We experimented with some new architectures to improve performance over the last two years and are now rolling those improvements out to our Managed WordPress platform. HTTP/2 for the document is currently planned for next quarter (Q3).
However, we're also working on rolling out CDN to all customers, which serves all assets over HTTP/2 except for the document. All customers for the Pro, Ultimate and Deluxe Managed WordPress plans have CDN already. All Basic plans will have it by the end of next week (many already have it now). To turn on CDN, just log into your myh.godaddy.com Hosting dashboard and open your site settings to turn it on. All remaining plans (those not mentioned above) will get it over the next few weeks.
So, today Managed WordPress sites will serve all assets over HTTP/2 if CDN is enabled. The remaining work to turn it on for the document is planned for Q3. To see HTTP/2 in action with CDN look at the waterfall of your assets loading and you'll see them parallelized.
Great question, I hope this helps!
Thank you for the reply @Gabe. I am following this thread. Just so I'm clear, this is only for managed wordpress? What about the web hosting plans that are not managed? I am more interested in the http2 for the doc.
Hi @Mks805 Sorry, I can only speak for our WordPress products. I recommend asking in the web hosting forums so that team can answer.
Just to update all folks here, CDN is now available on all Managed WordPress plans. We turn it on automatically for new sites. Existing sites can turn it on in their hosting setting (myh.godaddy.com).
Turning on CDN will also turn on HTTP/2 support for all assets except the document. HTTP/2 support is currently in the works along with some other improvements for better performance overall.
