We find that we need to explain the distinction between having a domain name, and having a hosting account. In the simplest terms, a web site is just a folder with a bunch of files in it, located on a computer somewhere on the internet. We explain the concept of everything connected to the internet has a unique 'address' called an IP address. A domain is simply a human-friendly name that points web browsers to the site's IP address, because it's easier to remember Google.ca than it is to remember 126.96.36.199. The domain and site can be with different companies. If you decide to move your site to a new host, you don't have to move the domain as well, you can just tell the domain name to point to a new IP address. That helps to explain Name Servers.
