are you sure your domain didn't expire and was simply bought by someone? The whois data seems to be real enough.
You should get in touch with support if you suspect wrong doing and they through validating your account and purchase history / product history etc will help you.
You will need to validate your account details, username, password, PIN number, email etc.
Thanks but no, product is still mine, due to renew soon. I could just add a site to it and wipe out the one that's there, I guess/I hope, but I'm still puzzled how someone could add a site to my domain.
Is it possible they are redirecting to my domain name? and why bother, if so?
I don't really think I've been hacked, everything else is just fine on my account.
Just something odd.
Thanks for replying so soon 🙂
Wordpress sites are very easy to hack often and it looks like they probably take money for products and run without supplying products, leaving you looking the guilty party. I would contact support for advice on this right away. I unfortunately don't know enough about CMS sites, so further advice is recommended.
Please sort out asp, best regards.
I've just done a search on the company, and they seem legit, tho it may not be them on my domain but another impersonating them, more than likely as you say, trying to scam.
You're right, I'll get onto support about it.
I'm still puzzled as to how they linked a site to my domain tho, given there's no site at all on the domain, WP or otherwise, for them hack. If scammers can do that to our domains, I'd like to find out what we need to do to prevent it in future. Like, how do we block a third party from redirecting onto our domains? or whatever it is they've done.
When I find out from support I'll share it here, later 🙂
I am sorry this has happened but am sure support will clear it up for you. It would indeed be very valuable info to share with the community so others could perhaps learn. It is no fault of yours this has happened, it can and does happen to lots of folk.
Sharing any feedback from support would be very welcome............ thank you. Hope the rest of your day is good.
Hi rammsteinium, and anyone else reading now or in the future 🙂
The mystery of how my domain was being used by persons unknown to boot up their own site remain unsolved. No idea of how it was done, other than some hacker getting into my account and changing just that one A record, which is unlikely. Password changed, but it's not something I share with others anyway. Stumped.
The fix was simply to change that A record to point elsewhere. Nothing to it.
The domain is now on a managed wordpress account too, shifting things around further. But the original mystery remains one.
My only problem now is how to access my cPanel on a Managed Wordpress account, as I want to make the new site a wp multisite and need to get into the file manager to change a line or two of code. Seems tho that the managed wp account doesn't offer a cPanel, at least not that I can find.
Always the way, eh? Solve one problem, and another arises, just to make your day 🙂
Sorry I can't be more help with the original problem than that, but that's all support and I have got.
Good luck everyone!
