Redirect a subdomian to a general url

Hello,

Is it possible to redirect a sub-domain to a general URL not an IP or other domain.

It will be like a short URL to a long URL.

I want to shorten our Office 365 email login to something like mail.domain.com

Thank you.

Hi @HaithamSakr,

Thanks for your reply, and for providing more info.  My apologies for misunderstanding what you were attempting to do.

You should be able to forward a subdomain via the domain manager to accomplish what you want.  The steps at the link below should help:

https://www.godaddy.com/help/forward-a-subdomain-19977

Please be aware that you may have to remove the mail or email CNAMEs from the DNS Zone File if you plan to use one of those subdomain names.

Hi @HaithamSakr,

If you're wanting to set up a subdomain to point to an Office 365 login, you should be able to do that by creating a new CNAME record.  This would allow you to set up a mail.domain.com subdomain that would redirect to whatever your login URL is for Office 365.  You can find more details in the help center:

https://www.godaddy.com/help/change-a-cname-record-19237

Hope that helps.

Thank you @ML

CNAME does accept the office 365 URL in Points to * , it raise this error:

"Enter either @ or a valid host name such as: "subdomain.domain.tld""

Office 365 mail will be something like this:
https://www.outlook.com/domian.com

Please, advise.

I am trying to add a subdomian (mail.myDomian.com) to redirect it to our office 365 mailbox but I got this error:

There was a problem creating the sub-domain:

(XID 64q8yy) A DNS entry for the domain “mail.menafile.com” already exists.

I checked the DNS and removed any related ones for mail, but still get the same issue.

Please advise.
