URL is only working with "www"- amazon lightsail wordpress & godaddy domain

I have a lightsail wordpress instance and a godaddy domain.

Everything is working really well except that the domain is only working with "www."

In my example: -> Is working -> Is not working

Lightsail Settings:

I created in the lightsail network settings a static IP and the "" DNS Zone.

In this DNS Zone I also add an "www." A record wich is pointing to

Godaddy Settings:

I have copied the 4 Name Server Addresses from the lightsail DNS Zone. Then, I went to the godaddy Doamin DNS Settings and copied these 4 addresses into the nameserver settings.

After waiting a couple days the www. domain was working!

I have also tried a domain redirect at godaddy (http:// to which is also not working.

Now my question: Is this a godaddy or lightsail problem? Did I do something wrong?

Thank you!

Hello there,

Based on what you're saying, Amazon now controls your DNS. When you change the Nameservers in your GD DNS Management area to point to another hosting, they effectively take control of the entire DNS zone file. It sounds like you need to consult with Amazon, find out how to update your DNS in their system, and make sure it's set up correctly.

Yes, your namservers are pointing to Lightsail so they would have control over your DNS.  The domain redirect trick isn't applicable in this situation, that's for if you were using GoDaddy DNS but couldn't point the domain using an A record.  You'll want to make sure your DNS zone file with Lightsail has the proper A record pointing to the IP address for your hosting.
