You may have to submit your domain to google before it will show up. Google will find other sites in time without submitting it, however relying on that method takes additional time. One thing to do is run google analytics on the site which will also help.

I've never heard of "preview" on the domain manager - are you using GoCentral and you need to "publish" your site - What is your domain name?

If you are using GoCentral - I would suggest following this link to add Google Analytics to the site

https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-google-analytics-to-my-site-27179

Which in turn will get Google to spider / index the site

Here is a link to google to submit the site - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6065812

Thank you for posting that as it helps to answer your question....

So you are using the domain forwarding feature - Because of how the search engines work, the URL you are using to forward is NOT going to show up in Google, because it is an alias - and the "301" settings tells Google that it is a forward. The URL you are forwarding to www.metalshap...... is what will show in Google.

In regards to the http vs https - that all depends if you have an SSL Certificate setup on the www.metal..... website

Re: domain support

thank you,

this kind of makes sense, the settings were done by godaddy, is there a better way of doing the settings?

would it still work if i use the URL inspection tool to submit the site to google? if so where do i enter that information?

sorry for being a bit 'green' lol

Domain Forwarding is great when you want to have an "alias" for a website and you can only assign one domain to the site or for example if let's say you need to link to http://www.somedomain.com/category/page/subpage/etc

and you have http://www.eventname.com

This way you can put the nice short domain on marketing material but have it forward to the actual domain.

You would not / can't submit this "short" domain to Google because it is an alias - and the settings in GoDaddy even tell Google - This is an alias to the real domain

If the forwarding is working than everything is setup correctly and there really isn't anything else to do with the domain you are forwarding

By nature of how a forwarded domains work they won't be indexed - Since they are forwarded google sees the real domain not the forward one.

Re: domain support

@neilb1970

As I mentioned you can't the issue is that the forward using what is known as a 301 redirect - Google sees this redirect and actually updates the URL displayed.

This is why when a website changes to a new domain name they use the 301 redirect to let Google know to update the old domain to the new one.

Therefore it is not possible to get the domain which you are using for the forward to display
