https on subdomain

Hi, is there any way to add https subdomain?

I have certificate for all the subdomain (sso.domain.com, forums.domain.com, etc) but if I access it using https, it uses an unknown directory, therefor it says the website id not ready.

Re: https on subdomain

The simple answer is Yes, SSL certificates (https) can be applied to subdomains. So https://securesite.com AND https://forum.securesite.com or https://secuesite.com/forum

I don't know what type of certificate you are using (certainly there are several kinds)  but you can generally secure all of your website with one security certificate. You probably want to also take a look at your structure to make sure it is proper. Additionally take a look to make sure your code is links refer to https Hope that helps?

Re: https on subdomain

I'm using LetEncrypt with all the subdomain registered.

My problem is the subdomain only configured to the http. I can access sso.my-domain.com but when I try https://sso.my-domain.com it gives me those default website is not  ready page from godaddy

Re: https on subdomain

Unfortunately I'm the wrong guy to help with setting up LetsEncrypt but there are some here that have experience with it.

Re: https on subdomain

Got it working.

Just need to add the certificate to each subdomain manually

Re: https on subdomain

Did you use LetsEncrypt @mataanjin? Can you provide additional details for those looking to accomplish the same thing? Thanks in advance.

Solution

Re: https on subdomain

Sure @rd, here is my steps

  1. Setup your subdomains
  2. Get certificate from letsencrypt for all your subdomains. I use https://www.sslforfree.com for example
  3. In cpanel go to SSL/TLS
  4. Install and Manage SSL for your site (HTTPS) > Manage SSL sites
  5. add the key and certificate you gets from step 2 to all domains and subdomains

Re: https on subdomain
