Hello @DelphinusI have no idea when . .
but best way to run it is vps.
Shared cant as of.
I think it got something to do with os version of shared host
Godaddy's plesk has
|MS Windows Server||2012|
NET Core 1.x requires :
Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 - 2016* x64, x86
Having root access means you can install your own OS, it's not that easy to upgrade OS roll outs on shared since it may impact lot's of sites. that means lot's of customers having critical issues.
This will not help at all, yet a'least you have an idea that it can take awhile to support it on shared.
One of your links is for .NET Core 1.0, but .NET Core 2.0 is available.
Here are Microsoft's instructions on how to configure IIS:
Host ASP.NET Core on Windows with IIS
You can check out the link here here. But it is only in research stages. Hosting Providers need to evolve for this beautiful tech to be supported.
Are you planning to provide godaddy's shared windows hosting option for asp.net core application? It is not possible buy VPS or Dedicated Server's plans for most of guys and I am one of them.
It you can provides us support for asp.net core application with shared windows hosting plans then it will good for us otherwise we can't continue to work with godaddy.
Hello Everyone. Wanted to give you a quick update. .NET core 1.0/1.1/2.0 has been installed on all of our Plesk Shared hosting systems. This feature is not present in the Plesk UI at this time, but it is available for use by default. .NET Core applications can be manually uploaded via FTP or Visual studio.
At this time, the Plesk platform itself does not support 2.2. We will update our internal systems once this has been released and verified as stable.
There are no steps to "enable" .NET Core on our Plesk Windows Shared Hosting. It is now enabled by default for versions 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. IF you are having difficulties with the deployment and receiving IIS 502.5 errors or similar, you may wish to try to publish your application using Web Deploy vs FTP.
I hope this helps out!
I don't know why im getting this error maybe because of the reason that server has no runtime dependencies yet.
Our version of Plesk will follow the Plesk releases as they come available to us. Plesk's change log is published at https://docs.plesk.com/release-notes/onyx/change-log/.
Please note that the 17.9 release is in a Preview state at this time, and is not considered available for a production release. The 17.8 branch only supports >NET Core versions up to 2.0.
I hope this helps!
So, not even ASP.NET Core 2.1?
Even though 2.0 has reached End of Life??
Looks like I might have to shop around then. I'd like a hosting company to stay up on the latest (stable) technologies, yeesh.
Hi @zabbadu ,
Thank you for your additional inquiry. The ability to provide .Net Core to our users is dependent on support from the Plesk Control Panel. At this time, versions 2.1 and above are only supported on the Plesk 17.9 Branch, which is still in "Preview" and is not considered a candidate for Production environments.
This branch should be considered a full release and available for us to upgrade our platform to in the first part of 2020 or sooner.
The following link show the Plesk release notes, with the specific section where support was added to the 17.9 branch for .Net Core version 2.1.
Thank you again for you time and feedback!
That is some good info. I guess I'm not truly convinced by Plesk's tagline "Innovative Hosting Control Panel" if they can't keep up.
I also assumed that GoDaddy would have a bit more sway or offer other options besides Plesk, considering their status in the web hosting world. I just did a quick google search for ASP.NET Core 2.1 hosting providers and was surprised by the number of options out there.
Edited to add : I mean, ASP.NET 3.0 is just around the corner, for crying out loud.
Thanks for the info!
