I cannot make outgoing calls on the app when working in my home office. I have sufficient cell service - 2 bars. It just says that it's an error in the number (doesn't matter what the number is). I tried adding "1" before the number but it doesn't make a difference. I updated the app - no change. Help!

This is something you're likely going to have to call in to support about or live chat with them. It may be something on the backend.
Is it just from your home office that it's not making calls? Does it work everywhere else? Remember that Smartline is VoIP, so cell reception doesn't really matter. Wifi or data connection to your phone is what matters.
