I am unable to login to my blog. When I log in, a message pops up - "You have been locked out due to too many invalid login attempts." - iThemes Security Plugin.
Also I can see that the sidebar of my blog has changed. Many new users have registered. I did not log in to my blog for a few weeks, so how could have i made so may wrong attempts that i got locked? Has my blog been hacked?
Sounds like maybe the site is compromised if you are seeing changes you did not make. You can find out for sure by running a site check at the link below:
There are a few steps which you have to do::
1- Open your hosting account and go to File Manager
2- Open the folder where you have your site
3- go to ../wp-content/plugins
4- rename your plugin folder from better-wp-security to better-wp-security-OLD
5- after that accesses your site.
6- create a new user and give it full access.
7- log out
8- log in with the new user
9- delete the old admin user
10- log out
11- Open your hosting account and go to File Manager
12- Open the folder where you have your site
13- go to ../wp-content/plugins
14- rename your plugin folder from better-wp-security-OLD to better-wp-security
15- that was all 🙂
I hope this will help you. Good luck.
