Import custom content to WordPress how-to

Hello everyone!

I'm quite new to WordPress, but I am a developer. I'm looking to import some posts from my old non-Wordpress website to my new WordPress site. I have all the articles I need in JSON format with a custom structure. How would I go about bringing articles into my new website? Where would I enter the code? Is there a python or Javascript API? What do I do here?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Import custom content to WordPress how-to

What platform were your old posts on?  WordPress can import from Blogger, BlogRoll, LiveJournal, Moveable Type and Typepad, RSS and Tumblr.  You can view the available options in Tools > Import.

If none of the above, maybe this plugin will help:

JSON Content Importer

Or, since you are a developer and like getting your hands dirty:

How to import JSON into WordPress

Re: Import custom content to WordPress how-to

It was a totally hand-made custom CMS that I built myself. Not wordpress, or any of these other words.

Thank you for your help. I'm going to try what you suggested and come back with some feedback.

If I am able to migrate my content to WordPress successfully, and if you have a bitcoin wallet, I'd be delighted to send you 0.01 BTC, which at the moment is about $11.
