Inaccessible blog site

Please I need help again :-)

I clicked the update button for plugins in my blog admin page and I suddenly get the error attached in both the admin page and the blog site itself.

Note that I can't find any such email in my inbox or even spam folder. This happened over 24hrs ago.

Thanks.1.jpg2.jpg

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@Idak

This is a new feature in WordPress 5.2 it means something failed with the update

I suggest using FTP and going to wp-content/plugins and rename the folder for the plugin that last updated - to name-DISABLED where name is whatever the name of the folder is.

In regards to the email  - this "should" go to the email address that is set in Settings -> General for the site

Once you rename the folder you should be able to log back in and re-install the plugin and be good go

Re: Inaccessible blog site

Thanks for your response @PL281

Sadly I have checked the mail repeatedly and see no such mail (whether I mistakenly deleted it in the spam is another matter entirely).

I am also unsure I can FTP.

Seems I am stuck. Please, how do I proceed?

Thank you.

If this is a Managed WordPress site you can get the FTP information from https://myh.godaddy.com -> your site and the user / password information should be in the center

If you have a cPanel account - you actually can go right into file manager and rename the folder there

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@PL281 Thanks again for your continued patience.

It is a managed WordPress site and I have opened the link you shared. Please what do I do next?

Forgive my ignorance and naivety on this topic.

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@PL281 I have seen the SFTP details.

How do I use it to access the folder you referred to?

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@Idak

You will need to use an FTP program (a.k.a client) I recommend CyberDuck - another popular one is Filezilla

Once you have one of those you will have to input the server / user / password - Make sure to select SFTP as the "protocol"

Once you connect you should see a "file manager" similar to what you would see on your local computer - from there you can browser to the wp-content/plugins folder

Re: Inaccessible blog site

Sillier questions.Please forgive me.

Do you reckon I should check the folder named PLUGIN or the one named UPGRADE?

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@Idak

I would sort the plugins folder by date

It looks you had coming-soon, contact-form-7 and wordpress-seo all update yesterday afternoon

You can do them all at once or start one at a time. If I had to venture a guess I would tell you it's wordpress-seo (Which is the Yoast SEO plugin)

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@PL281 So i just change the folder name to DISABLED? (without the question mark, though)

Re: Inaccessible blog site

@Idak

wordpress-seo-DISABLED

So you keep the original name and add -DISABLED to the end of it

Once you get into WordPress go to the plugins manager and you can try to re-enable one by one - Once you figure out which one and re-install make sure to come back and clean up the previous (Disabled) one
