Mobile Users - image uploads - Managed WP

Looking for answers/assistance...

I've built a classified ads component to my site and I'm having real issues with image uploads. Initially I was having issues with all image uploads but now it seems to mainly affect mobile users (Android & IOS). Desktop/laptop users can create new listings and upload images but mobile users cannot.

They seem to be having issues registering sometimes too. I've read that caching should be disabled on certain pages (register, login, listing form, etc). Does anyone know if this could be the cause with Managed WP? Or is there some other setting on GoDaddy I need to properly configure? I've also heard talk of mod_security needing adjustment to allow.

Any help/ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks!

@Shine - would you mind providing a bit more info? Are you using certain plugins to manage the image uploads, and what are they or is it built into your theme and what is it? What's the URL of your site that's got the issue?

Re: Mobile Users - image uploads - Managed WP

Thanks @SiteDoctor, the site is bellywag.com and uses SociallyViral (MTS) theme. I've added the classifieds with the plugin ACADP (Advanced Classifieds and Directory Pro). This plugin has a listing form for members to create new classified ads, and includes image upload field. I manage photo limits within this plugin (max. number allowed per listing).

Godaddy support helped today with mobile test and they were able to register but could not create new listing w/image from mobile. They tell me everything looks good on their end. Also that if desktop/laptop can do it then everything is working. I agree.

The plugin developer is looking into it as well. He was able to create a new listing w/image on his localhost, but can't on my site. I hope to hear back from him soon.

I'm wondering if I need some other plugin to aid in mobile uploads??

Thanks again!

Not sure but WP has image max size set low. Could be that you need to increase the max size to 32 or 64 MB.

Re: Mobile Users - image uploads - Managed WP

Hi @Shine - I just tried creating an account and uploading an image from my iPhone and it worked, so I guess the developer fixed the problem. I'd recommend you have stricter security, or you're likely to get a TON of spam.

Cheers!

Re: Mobile Users - image uploads - Managed WP

Thanks @SiteDoctor! I'm not sure how or who but I'm happy it's working, hoping it holds. I've had a few successful uploads with Android & IOS now, but unsure if it was an issue or user error. Possible that Godaddy support helped and if so I truly appreciate it. Again, thanks for running the test post, cool dog!

By stricter security I'm guessing you mean on sign up & new listings pages?? I've been thinking I'll need to add reCaptcha at some point. Any/all other ideas are definitely welcome. Thanks!

Re: Mobile Users - image uploads - Managed WP

One security feature would be double opt-in to ensure they are using a legit email address. When I signed up I had immediate access to upload without having to verify myself by responding to an email.

you might want to start off having some human moderation so you can catch people trying to upload inappropriate stuff, like porno pictures. There are always going to be idiots out there, you know?

Glad it's working now.

Cheers!
