Reseller Storefront - Customising

Hello everyone,

i purchased a pro reseller account yesterday and started to set up my storefront. However I'm finding the options are quite limited and I can't really make it look like a reputable modern hosting/domains business.

ive read about skinning or building the storefront in WordPress, but I'm finding there's a lack of information about this.

Has anyone got experience of building a bespoke reseller storefront or custom the one provided?

Thanks.

Alex

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

Hello @tbr

Regarding this statement:

I'm finding there's a lack of information about this.

let's agree to disagree.

After a short search I've found a few tutorials on how to customize your Reseller Storefront.

Here they are:

Maybe there are others, but I've just stop searching.

I hope it will help you.

Good luck.

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

Thank you for your reply Adrian.

I have already read all of those posts you so quickly found from a search. However let's agree to disagree about those being helpful. They lack any sort of useful information for those less experienced or any real depth.

Perhaps I was wrong to say there was a lack of information. Perhaps I meant a lack of useful information. What I'm left with whatever way I customise it is me having to rely on a store that looks quite outdated. I've been told by GoDaddy they will improve the reseller storefronts at some point this year, I'm just not sure I want to wait for that to happen. Looks aren't everything in life but they do matter online.

Thank you for taking time out to do your short search and thank you for stopping there and not wasting anymore of your time.

Unable to use subdomain as storefront URL.

I have created a subdomain on my godaddy hosting account. I want my reseller storefront url to be replaced by the subdomain name i have created.

In Settings -> Branding, i have entered the subdomain url as custom domain name and saved it, After few hours a message comes that cannot update custome url settings (Something like this). What step am i missing?

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

I agree with Alex, these reseller account look ancient, are we expected to really send our clients to these pages and buy our services.  My websites are designed to a high standard and I'm not able to use this service as it is.

I was expecting an API or clever snippet system so we can inject code into our own site and customise the look and design 100%... I'm going to need a refund if this is all we get as I'm better off marking up the products and micro-managing the order process manually that using this storefront.

I'm going to look through those links, BUT after seeing Alex response and no retort I'm assuming he's bang on right and they aren't useful articles at all.  Alex plus 1 kudos mate.

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

Alex, I'm going to check this out as it looks like it might be the solution we are looking for...?

https://uk.godaddy.com/help/what-is-an-api-reseller-plan-5939

API reseller looks like an API of the services and products that can injected into an existing website / brand / design.

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

TBR, I too was completely disillusioned with my new GoDaddy resellers store template www.domainsolution.co.uk all you can really do is add a header, choice of image in the middle and the colour! - Lets face it that navigation function is at least 20 years old!

I have spent the last 2 months trying to find someone who can build a site for me using the recent godaddy API.... Why dont we join forces and try and do it together???

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

@jamesgs1, any news about customizing?

I also have a Reseller Pro plan but not satisfied both Wordpress Plugin and GoDaddy Storefront because both solutions make all resellers websites similar and deprive flexibility for design and programming.

Right now I'm working on new design of my reseller store where I use GoDaddy Cart only (for the payment process). All required data like:
- user info (username, email, etc.)
- user login/logout process
- cart info (products, qty, etc)
can be taken via API and for that you do not need API reseller plan.

If somebody is in my boat and have experience with API please contact me, we can share solutions on how to proceed and save development time at both sides.
Thanks!

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising/?isc=gdcommment

Your welcome @dzyanis and glad to hear your part of that community as well.

I know a few of them have custom reseller website that is probably using a mix of WP plugin and API.

Hey Dzyanis,

If you have found anything on this, please let me know!

Re: Reseller Storefront - Customising

Hello @jaymnorth,

Yes I found, here the link to Storefront API:
https://www.secureserver.net/api/explore/

From my understanding, WP GDReseller plugin works with this API. The reasons why I would like to avoid WP with GDReseller plugin are:

1. All GD resellers websites have similar design because reseller plugin is not flexible for design.
2. Reseller's web site possibilities are limited by GD reseller plugin possibilities.
3. WP itself is not the best engine to integrate some additional functionality.
4. You very depend on Reseller plugin team. If you want to add some functionality it is not a fact they will do it. They are always very overbusy and seems in reality there only one or a couple of guys work on the plugin.

I think WP with Reseller plugin is the best choice for somebody who is not familiar with web design and programming. But working directly with API gives you more flexibility and possibilities.

I'm working on PHP class what works directly with this API and going to involve it in the close future. At least I would like to try.

Sincerely,
Dzyanis Sukhanitski
