Shopify has caused a problem on my WordPress site

I am not sure what I am missing but after a short time away from my website (moving State and pandemics) I find I can't get to my Wordpress website (either root or /wp-admin).  This is the error message:

"Sorry, WP Shopify requires WordPress version 5.0 or higher. "

Fine... I can get to CPanel... it tells me I am using WP v4.9.8, but when I try to upgrade the Wordpress version (no matter what later version I select) I get this error:

"! The selected version, or a version between it and the installed version, does not support upgrading. Check the application's website to see if a "migration" tool is available. (version 4.9.9, status disabled-local)"

Help?   Any thoughts?

Thanks all... problem solved.  What was the solution? Call the wonderful GoDaddy support people (before you tear ALL of your hair out.

William saw the issue but although he did not know why is was behaving so strangely, he was able to update my version of WordPress from his end and that fixed the problem.

What was the issue - unless it happens again I am not overly concerned because it was the first time I saw the issue and GoDaddy was able to fix it.

So I suggest to ask the community but don't waste hours thrashing over it.  Call GoDaddy support.

If you can get to the wp-admin page but you have that error, you maybe able to disable the plugins either via the database or re-naming the plugin folder - and hopefully be able to get into WordPress to upgrade. It could also be a PHP version issue or a number of other issues.

It's a bit hard to say without seeing the errors first hand - regardless of what you do, make sure you have a backup of the site first.
