My experience -
Ok, so i had to upgrade my server. Please keep in mind when you buy your brand new shiny server and have to shut down the old , outdated server - there is no refunds on your old server. So dont be paying say a year or more in advance. There is also from my experience, no one to help you with this process, unless of course you pay someone else to run your server. This is why we run our own servers right? because we can!
Tech support does not know anything about servers. I was told this several times during this stressful upgrade. Dont bother calling them and asking.
godaddy really needs to give us a incentive to staying with their server packages.
On another note, if you still have centos 6 running, upgrading to centos 7 many more options just work !
I'm curious. Did you purchase your server online or by calling into a sales rep? If you had called in, they should have told you all this so you would know what to expect. They go over all your options so you decided on what's best for you. If you called in and they didn't tell you this then it's bad on that GoDaddy rep.
