Re: HOW TO LOGIN TO ROOT USER ?

By default Godaddy blocks root login. if you need to run a command as root use sudo then the command

    Example:

    [omniterm@oslinux.net ~]$ dnf update
Error: This command has to be run under the root user.
    [omniterm@oslinux.net ~]$ sudo dnf update
Last metadata expiration check: 2:37:39 ago on Thu Aug 11 11:11:13 2016.
    Dependencies resolved.
    Nothing to do.
    Complete!

the other option is to run sudo passwd then enter new password for root and confirm

Once you have root password you can use use su to login as root after first logging in as user.

for security it is best to login as user and use sudo for any commands that need root.

    @tanpa,

For Cent os use the command yum for updates.

    sudo yum update
Running that command should allow you to update.

su - used to login as root or another user if you are root.

sudo - used to run commands as root.

    Re: Root Password

User and root password is same, but before you access root you need to be in user account then use this command, sudo  then su  then enter same user password as root, you are good to go.

Trouble Logging In to my VPS after Domain Setup

    Hi,

I am totally new to VPS and I could login perfectly fine into it until I tried setting up a domain and now my usually working user name and password is no longer being recognized during login.

    BTW I already tried DOMAIN\USERNAME, DOMAIN.LOCAL\USERNAME, LOCAL\USERNAME... all failed.

    Please help!
