    Unable to Upload PHP Version to Server, Open SSL Handshake Failure.

    In my attempt to upgrade php on my server my site broke when I upgraded the PHP.

    When I tried to revert back with Easy Apache,my original version of PHP 5.2.7 disappeared  from the choices n WHM?!!

    Through SSH,I attempted the task of uploading php5.2.17 to reverse the process

    BUT I was unable to start the upload using the method below because I would receive the error:

    ********@ip-**-**-*-*** [~]# cd /usr/src; wget https://museum.php.net/php5/php-5.2.17.tar.gz;

    OpenSSL: error:14077410Smiley FrustratedSL routinesSmiley FrustratedSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert
    handshake failure Unable to establish SSL connection.

    I tried several things including:

    • updating my wget from, 1.11.4 to 1.16 to 1.20

    • using — no-check-certificate

    • using curl

    I have not been able to upload because of this error.

    What can I try next to resolve this?

    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

    Besides for the fact that I would NOT recommend installing such an old version of PHP for both security and performance issues.....

    Did you try the wget in the /tmp directory vs the /usr/src

    I just tried the wget on one of my VPS servers and it worked just fine.

    As a foot note, EasyApache does give a warning when you uninstall the older (not supported) versions of PHP that you cannot re-add them

    @PL281

    Thanks for your reply.

    Yes I do have to upgrade, (I'm in the process of upgrading the whole server now..adding php5.2, and the extension MySQLi.

    But I do want the site up while I test new php. My wget (1.11.4), AND OpenSSL (0.9.8e...) are to old. This is why I could not connect(handshake).

    I must have missed the warning. If I would have downloaded the profile, would EasyApache allowed me to upload and use it?

    Thanks Again for your response.

    I don't think that EasyApache will let you select it as it is part of script - if wget isn't working you might have to download it to your local computer and then FTP it to the server.
