Unable to access external web from docker container

I am unable to reach any external ip addresses from my docker containers except my own domain and some of the GoDaddy specific ones.

If i try to ping the google dns, which would have to be ping-able I get following response:

$ docker run --rm busybox ping
    PING ( 56 data bytes
    --- ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

From my host it works perfectly fine, which is weird, because the finally done with the same network interface (eth0).

When i do a traceroute my docker container responds with the following message:

$ traceroute to (, 30 hops max, 46 byte packets
     1 ( 0.009 ms 0.023 ms 0.006 ms
     2 ( 0.218 ms 0.210 ms 0.148 ms
     3 ( 0.544 ms ( 0.283 ms ( 0.266 ms
     4 ( 0.300 ms ( 0.283 ms ( 0.236 ms
     5 ( 0.242 ms ( 0.281 ms 0.232 ms
     6 ( 0.250 ms 0.252 ms ( 0.251 ms
     7 ( 56.442 ms ( 0.730 ms ( 0.570 ms
     8 ( 0.728 ms ( 0.615 ms ( 0.643 ms

I tested this behaviour on the US servers as well and got almost the same response (the last part of the request was pointing to a subdomain of "")

For me it looks like that GoDaddy is actually the problem and not me, because of the request leaving my server entirely. There is no error or intercept on my server.

    Help would be much appreciated

I'm thinking this issue is better handled by calling support or doing a live chat. They'll be able to offer you a more diagnostic reply than we can here on the community forums. We are primarily end-users like yourself without access to GoDaddy's troubleshooting tools.

I would suggest calling in and talking to Hosting Support. They should be able to give you some sort of answer that will actually help you rather than us just shooting in the dark on this issue.

Unfortunately I am not able to call GoDaddy for the next two weeks, and the support couldn't really help me via chat. It's more about if somebody else encountered this issue or has an idea to fix this.
