Downtime when switching from gocentral to wordpress?
I'm very dissatisfied with Gocentral's functionality and will be switching to Wordpress through linux cpanel. My question is: will I be able to keep my gocentral site up while working on the wordpress site on the backend? If not, can someone offer suggestions to minimize/eliminate downtime? Thanks!

Yes, you can keep your current website live. You would either use a subdomain to build the site if you're on cPanel hosting or the temp URL provided if you're working on Managed WordPress. Once you've built the site in WP, you just update the DNS.
DNS propagation can take 24-48 hours but it's usually done within a few minutes.
