    HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    I have an HTML section that includes a lot of CSS for formatting to render correctly.  It displays correctly in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, but renders a blank page in Microsoft Edge.   Strange in that if I take out half the displayed elements I can get the page to render in Edge.   It appears to be some sort of max limit reached and page fails to render.  Or maybe a memory overwrite in Edge.

    My page is at http://carlos1800.com

    The HTML code section is:

    <style>
    h2 { font-family:arial; text-align:center;color:#0075C0; }
    h3 { font-family:arial; text-align:center; color:#0075C0;}

    a {
        background-color: #0075C0;
        text-decoration: none;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        border-radius:25px;
        font-family:arial;
        font-size:25px;
        text-align:center;
    }
    a:hover {
        background-color: #0085d0;
        color: #FFFFFF;
     }
    p {
        font-size:18px;padding: 0px 15px 0px 15px; text-align:center; color:#0075C0;
      }
    img {
        display: block;
        margin-left: auto;
        margin-right: auto;
     }

    .column-left{ float: left; width: 45%; margin-left:3%; }
    .column-right{ float: right; width: 45%; margin-right: 3%;}

    @media screen and (max-device-width: 800px) {

        width:90%;
    }

    The code original had <head> and <body> tags, but I removed those as somebody in another post saidf they may be an issue with Edge.   In could be related to limits or factors due to HTML sections actually being wrapped in an iframe in Go Central and Edge is reaching an iframe limit within its code or memory.  As a standalone file, it renders correctly in Edge...  In Go Central HTML section, it does not.   Strange indeed...   but frustrating!   Any help would be appreciated so I can get this working across all browsers.   Thanks in advance!

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Hi @pasaytenpete. According to this Microsoft document, it looks like this might be something specific to Microsoft Edge:

    For security reasons, data URIs are restricted to downloaded resources. Data URIs cannot be used for navigation, for scripting, or to populate frame or iframe elements.

    Data URIs cannot be larger than 32,768 characters.

    Unfortunately, what you're trying to set up probably won't work in that browser Man Sad

    Hi @JesseW ... So the code in the HTML section on Go Central is considered a DATA URI?   Never would have thought that...   Interesting...  will have to read more about them.   The code is relatively small which should be well under the 32K limit...    MS Edge use of the site is not that significant though...

    Thanks for the info...

    Hi @pasaytenpete,

    I'm posting this on behalf of one of our engineers.

    Rachel

    Hi there pasaytenpete,

    First, thanks for reaching out to us with this issue and sorry for the trouble.

    We investigated what is happening here. You are right: Edge has a limit of 1,849 characters that can be passed in the iframe we use to render custom HTML code. We are currently working on a fix and will let you know as soon as it's released.

    Thanks for your patience,

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    @RachelM Thanks for the acknowledgement!!!   The limitation was driving me bonkers and I figured it was a number in that area (below 2K)...  Strange limitation for the MS flagship browser!!!    lol...  🙂

    It didn't even try to process my 24K food menu...   Which you should consider that your users might need some good size for an HTML custom section while you are working on the issue...  🙂

    P.S.  Please work on the extra white space at the top and bottom of HTML sections while you are at it...  Some users like me want to put them on the head page just below the header...   🙂

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Looks like this is no longer working. I'm having the same problem as pasaytenpete and i just checked his site in both Chrome and Edge and Edge is not showing a part of his home page.

    http://carlos1800.com

    I have the same type of thing on my page. I tested with a simple HTML section that had the word test in it and it does not show in EDGE.

    under the Past Events HMTL title, the word test should come up. it does not in the EDGE browser.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Im having the same problem. HTML code does not show up at all in edge browser but works fine in chrome and IE. This started a few days ago for me.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    if you look at this site, it displays differently on chrome, IE, and doesn't display at all on Edge

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    My HTML section is not rendering in MS Edge. It is just the HTML code from google maps to show where our boat is parked. IE and Chrome render fine. Edge is just blank. https://ryukyuarchipelagodivers.com/contact

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    My HTML is also not rendering in Edge now, but it is working on all other browsers.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    I have been having this problem with Edge for months at my site paranormal-esp.com. The section title shows up but none of my html text is visible. Chrome and Firefox work great. The Go Central programmed sections work fine in Edge. Is there a code we can use at the beginning of our html sections to solve this?

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    This is still a big problem.  No HTML from an HTML Section will render on MS Edge.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    STILL NOT FIXED!!!

    It's now been over 6 months since this thread started and the problem still isn't fixed! You'd think Microsoft Edge would be able to make this simple fix in a timely manner. I have a new website and clients that visit will not be able to see my offers if they are using MICROSOFT EDGE!!! This is a big problem! I have been using their browser for years, but may have to switch to another because of this!

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Hi KlassHog,

    Iframes work just fine in Edge -- I use them often.  The issue is with GoDaddy's implementation.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    seascan,

    So the HTML issue is actually a problem with GoDaddy's implementation with the Microsoft Edge browser?

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Yes.

    I've tested the exact same html copied into a WordPress site (as well as a site not using an 'editor') and the html is perfectly rendered in MS Edge.  But, if I copy and paste the html into the GoDaddy editor, it will not render in MS Edge.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Do you know if anyone has addressed this with GoDaddy? I thought I read they had fixed it, but then it stopped working properly again. I'll probably send them a message to find out if they are addressing the problem anyway.

    Thanks!

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Hi -- last I saw it still hasn't been fixed.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    The issue has been that IE and Edge hasn't supported the srcdoc attribute of iframes.  It's now been added in EdgeHTML 18 that will be public released this fall.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    I just discovered I am having this issue too. My iframe works in other browsers, not in MS edge.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    @ChristmanImages, Its because of how its render. I just posted about this just a few minutes ago in the community and submitted a feedback/suggestion to Godaddy about it as well.

    Hopefully, we can get the community involved with voting on this issues and getting the GoDaddy GoCentral dev team to fix this issue with iframes.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    Is this issue still occurring?   I have launched an Internet radio station and the embedded player cannot be seen or heard by Microsoft Edge users.  The GoDaddy help desk suggested that they clear their cache, but that has not worked.

    The engineers for my radio site (from Radio.co)  reported to me  that

    "your website has a little transition being applied to the player, which doesn't work in Edge. As a result, the player doesn't get displayed so they can't tune in.  I found this error in the console, you might want to pass this over to your web designer to see if they can assist you with thatSCRIPT5007: SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'getAttribute' of undefined or null referencejavascript&colon; window.frameElement.getAttribute("srcdoc"); (1,2)"

    I reported this yesterday to the GoDaddy help desk, and they were no help.  They told me to go back to the tech person to fix the script.   The tech engineer reported back to me:
    "I'm not sure why they've put you back in touch with us in all honesty. The script that is causing the issue isn't the Radio.co player. It looks like you're using something to slide the player down which is the cause of the problem, as it's not supported in Edge.
    I'd recommend removing the script potentially which should fix the issue, I've attached the code below which is causing the problem.
     <iframe id="iframe-012" frameborder="0" sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-forms allow-popups allow-presentation allow-top-navigation" src="x-javascript&colon; window.frameElement.getAttribute(&quot;srcdoc&quot;);" srcdoc="<script>window.onmessage = function(event) {event.source.postMessage({iframeId: event.data, scrollHeight: document.body.getBoundingClientRect().height || document.body.scrollHeight}, event.origin);};</script><body style='margin: 0;'><div style=&quot;display: flex; justify-content: center&quot;><script src=&quot;https://embed.radio.co/player/6a43192.js&quot;></script>
    </div></body>" style="width: 100%; overflow: visible; transition: height 1.5s ease 0s; height: 500px;"></iframe>"

    I went back to GoDaddy help desk today with this same information and received no help, just the same answer - blaming it on the Microsoft Edge user.    As I found this thread, I'm assuming this is connected.

    Anyone have any ideas?  I am ready to ditch GoDaddy as this is impacting my users.

    Re: HTML section not rendering in Microsoft Edge

    I've had similar issues. My html text renders in Chrome and Firefox but not in Microsoft browsers. I place a note in the header to only use either of these two.
