    new website builder - HTTP changed to HTTPS

    Hi, using the newest builder from godaddy and trying to add html code with a button, however the builder keeps changing my http: into https which then blows up when the button is clicked. Any work-around for this?

    Thanks, MLA

    If the button is to transmit information it should use a https secure connection.  If it is simply to direct to a URL a hyperlink should be used instead, which can be styled to the desired look using CSS.

    Re: new website builder - HTTP changed to HTTPS

    Hi There and thanks for your feed back, but yes it's a button with a link that just needs to go to another website "HTTP" it's as simple as this logic in the spoiler below. if I put the link into a built in button from the theme it works just fine. However I want the layout  to look like I have it in the custom html.BTW This works everywhere but WITH this builder as well. I thought this version of the builder would be better than the previous, once again disappointed. I should just build the site in word press and be done with it.

    Let me know if anyone has any other ideas.

    Thanks,

    @Kathy587    The form action with http can cause a security warning for some browsers so the platform prevents it.  Links should be used instead if they're just directing to certain URLs.

    <style>
    	.button {
    		display: inline-block;
    		margin: 25px; /* space between buttons */
    		background: #008390; /* background color */
    		color: #fff; /* text color */
    		font-size: 1.5em;
    		font-family: ‘Georgia’, serif;
    		font-style: italic;
    		border-radius: 50px; /* rounded corners */
    		padding: 8px 16px; /* space around text */
    		-moz-transition: all 0.2s;
    		-webkit-transition: all 0.2s;
    		transition: all 0.2s;
    		text-decoration: none; /* remove underline from link */
    		border: 2px outset;
    	}
    	.button:hover {
    		background: #666;
    		color: #c1e1e0;
    		border-style: inset;
    	}
    </style>

    <div>
    	<a class="button" target="_blank" href="https://www.akc.org/sports/conformation/akc-registered-handlers/">AKC Registered Handlers</a>
    	<a class="button" target="_blank" href="http://phadoghandlers.com/index.html">Professional Handlers Association (PHA)</a>
    	<a class="button" target="_blank" href="https://www.w3docs.com/">Junior Handler Program</a>
    </div>

    Re: new website builder - HTTP changed to HTTPS

    Hi again, Yes Nate I had thought the same, so using a link as you did in your example was my first thought. But that didn't work either. I did retest with your example just to make sure, however the same thing happens it just replaces the http with https and thus the site wont open.

    It must be something in there logic that is broken that is happening behind the scenes.

    Keep me posted should someone find a work around...

    Thanks very much for your time.

    That is odd because http should be allowed in links, it would take the development team to fix this.  You can tell support so they can forward it to the proper department.

    As a work around you can run the http URL thru a shortener service who uses SSL, then use the https URL they give you instead.  Here is an example of one.
