Can't force pw change in phpmyadmin

I'm lost... I can't sign in to one of my websites within wordpress after migrating hosting to cpanel. I've tried to reset the password with the basic 'forgot your password' link and it never sends the email (I've tried multiple emails). Instead, I went into phpmyadmin to update the database and change the password there. After trying numerous times, I still get the incorrect user/pass prompt in wp-admin. The table is wp-users that I'm editing. It should work but it's not. Because of this, I can't do anything with my website. Does anyone have an idea to fix this? I'm dead in the water not being able to get into wp-admin.
