SQL 2017 and wildcard certificate

I have a windows 2016 server with SQL 2017 installed. After installing SQL 2017, the database server starts fine and works. When I go to configure windows 2017 server (import) the wilcard certificate and configure SQL 2017 to use SSL in it's connections, the SQL service does not start. The event logs show:

Unable to load user-specified certificate [Cert Hash(sha1) "REDACTED SSL THUMBPRINT"]. The server will not accept a connection. You should verify that the certificate is correctly installed. See "Configuring Certificate for Use by SSL" in Books Online.

I've called support and the response I've gotten is "SQL 2017 is out of our support scope"

Can anyone help me with getting the sql server working?

Or confirm that the godaddy wildcart cert will work on windows 2016 server/sql 2017, or even confirm that it doesn't work?

Hello

You may try to reinstall SSL by doing SSL-Rekey procedure. May take a few hours up to 72 hours to stall.

If no Go, I recommend Contact Support for help ipen on Eastern Business hours or 24/7 over the phone .

Has anyone there installed the wildcard cert onto microsoft sql 2017?
