It's not tied to any country or industry. Instead, .web is designed to work for anyone, anywhere.  And while the .web domain may be new, it reads as instantly familiar as the original .com itself. ### Why choose a .web domain? With over 160 million .com addresses already registered, finding short, relevant domain names has become increasingly difficult. The .web extension offers a fresh, credible identity for anyone looking to build their brand or get established online. * Fresh availability: Start with a blank canvas where your desired business, creative, or category name has a real chance of being available. * Made for online-first brands: For ecommerce, digital agencies, web creators, and solopreneurs, a .web domain immediately signals that your business lives and operates on the web. * Global recognition: The word web is understood across languages and borders, so a .web extension can reach the broadest possible audience. * Proven infrastructure: Powered by Verisign, .web runs on the same reliable registry system behind .com and .net. ### I already own a .com. Do I need a .web domain, too?  Your .com and your .web domain names can work together. A matching .web strengthens your brand and protects your online footprint, preventing competitors or third parties from taking your exact name. Owning both extensions allows you to defend your brand identity and trademarks, redirect traffic to a specific campaign, or create dedicated spaces for web-based services and online communities without touching your main site. ### Who can register a .web domain? Anyone. Once the extension opens to the public, .web domain registration will be unrestricted. Individuals, entrepreneurs, agencies, and international organizations will all be able to register a .web address without any geographic or residency constraints. ### When will .web extensions be available to register? Although no official launch dates have been published, Verisign announced .web delegation on July 22, 2026, with stated plans for the public launch later in 2026. Be among the first to get notified when the registration timelines and launch phases are confirmed, click the Follow button on this page. ### What does it mean to "Follow" the .web domain? When you click Follow, you are added to our priority update list to receive launch notifications, timeline milestones, and availability alerts, so you can act quickly when registration opens. Following the .web extension is free and requires no commitment or payment information. ### Does following a domain reserve it for me? No. Following lets us notify you when registration opens, but it does not reserve or guarantee you'll get a specific name. Once .web opens for general registration, timing will be critical and availability will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. To make sure you don’t miss the drop, add @godaddy.com to your safe senders list, or opt in to SMS alerts in your GoDaddy account for instant text alerts. ### Why should I register a .web domain with GoDaddy?
