How does Uptime Monitoring work?
When the uptime monitoring detects an interruption with your site, an AI agent does the following in order:
- Gather information: The tool collects information about the site’s interruption and current configuration to help understand the problem.
- Create a plan: The AI agent determines the best approach to resolve the issue.
- Create a backup: A safety backup of your site is made to ensure it can be safely restored if needed.
- Attempt to fix the issue: The AI Troubleshooter attempts to fix your site and bring it online again.
In many cases, your site will be back online before you notice anything was wrong. If the fix wasn’t successful, however, the following will automatically happen next:
- Restore the site: If the fix was unsuccessful, the site is immediately restored using the safety backup.
- Create a support ticket: A support ticket is automatically opened on your behalf so the WPPS team can investigate the cause of your site’s downtime and resolve the issue manually. Under most circumstances these tickets won’t use a credit.
What types of issues can the AI troubleshooter fix?
The WPPS AI agent can automatically fix many common WordPress issues that cause downtime, including:
- Theme and plugin compatibility issues with each other, WordPress core files or the site’s PHP version.
- File corruption or missing files from WordPress components such as themes, plugins, templates and database tables.
- Syntax/coding errors in WordPress configuration files, themes and plugins.
- High memory usage from plugins or themes.
- Incorrect PHP configuration.
- Other configuration issues such as incorrect permissions, a missing wp-config file and configurations issues within the database.
How many credits does this service use?
In most cases, one of your WPPS credits isn’t used when downtime is detected or when the AI agent fixes the problem. This is also often true when the AI agent isn’t able to fix the problem and the WPPS team is needed to manually fix the problem. When the cause of the downtime is complex enough to require a credit, you will be contacted through your WPPS dashboard and through email before a credit is used, so you can approve the work.
Can I control the Uptime Monitoring feature?
At any time, you can change whether or not the AI agent automatically attempts to fix your site when downtime is detected, and if you receive notifications about the downtime or not.
Can I interact with the AI agent?
No. The AI agent is setup and trained with specific prompts and capabilities to safely fix common WordPress issues. To avoid any unintended actions or consequences, it’s not possible to interact with the AI agent to ask it questions or give it other instructions.
