Differences between toll-free and local numbers
When it comes to choosing a business phone number, you have the option between a toll-free or local number. The type of phone number you choose may depend on your business or marketing needs.
Toll-free numbers
You can help your small business look and feel like a larger, more established company with a toll-free number. Your company will appear more reliable and accessible, giving your customers a sense of trust and security. Your marketing can be more memorable with an easy-to-remember toll-free number. You'll also have the flexibility to promote your business across the U.S. because the toll-free area codes aren't bound to any regions or cities. U.S. toll-free area codes include: 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877 and 888.
Local Numbers
Local Numbers are useful for marketing to specific cities or area. Many customers take pride in supporting local businesses. A local number shows that you and your customers are part of the same community. However, if you have international customers, a local phone number can also receive calls from outside of the U.S.
