How long is the battery life on my Poynt Smart Terminal?
The Poynt Smart Terminal is built to provide up to 8 hours of battery life, depending on usage.
Several factors can affect battery life. The more the Poynt Smart Terminal is used off-dock, the faster battery life will deplete. This is especially true when using the printer. Other factors include:
- Transaction volume
- Printer usage
- Screen brightness
- Device sleep settings
Check your Smart Terminal battery life
The battery status is displayed in the top-right corner of the screen. Swipe down from the top of the screen to see your battery percentage.
Optimize battery life
- Keep your battery charged. Keep your Smart Terminal docked when it’s not in use. Make sure the dock is plugged in and that the bottom of the Smart Terminal is properly aligned with the dock’s charging pins. The battery status in the top right corner will indicate that the Smart Terminal is charging.
- Adjust the brightness of the screen. The brighter the screen, the faster the battery will drain. Change the brightness by swiping down from the top of the screen twice and adjusting the
Brightness slider. - Turn on Standby intelligent power saving mode. Swipe down twice from the top of the screen > tap the battery > switch the Standby intelligent power saving toggle on. This will disable certain background services and apps when the terminal screen is off if the Smart Terminal isn’t charging.
- Offer SMS and email receipt options. Printing receipts takes a lot of power. You can give the customer the option of paperless receipts and even disable paper receipts.
