SSL subscriptions are a way that GoDaddy can honor your original SSL purchase term, without going over the maximum certificate term length allowed by the CA/Browser forum. If you purchased a 3 year certificate before 3/1/2018, and rekey that certificate after 3/1/2018, your certificate will be converted to an SSL subscription.

Then |
Install your certificate issued prior to 3/1/2018, and leave it alone |
You don't have anything to worry about. The certificate will be in place for all 3 years. At renewal, you will have to switch to a 2 year certificate. |
Rekey a certificate after 3/1/2018 and have more than 2 years remaining on your certificate |
GoDaddy will convert your certificate over to an SSL subscription. Your rekeyed certificate will be issued for 2 years, and then another certificate will be issued at the end of those two years for the remainder of the certificate term. |
