# How GoDaddy’s Domain Value Appraisal is evolving with the domain market

In November 2025, we set out to rebuild our Domain Value Appraisal model from the ground up. The result is a model with a broader understanding of domain names and their marketability than ever, with an appraisal range that now reaches $1 million.

That rebuild follows a domain market that's moving fast — and technology that's finally catching up to it. Trending extensions such as .ai have gained traction, while advances in machine learning have created new ways to assess the context behind a name.

Feedback from users helped inform the rebuild, too. The result is now available on the Domain Value Appraisal page, GoDaddy search, and Afternic, with more tools to follow.

## What is GoDaddy's Domain Value Appraisal?

The Domain Value Appraisal, also known as [GoValue,](https://www.godaddy.com/domain-value-appraisal) is our automated domain appraisal model. It estimates a domain name’s market value, giving buyers and sellers a reference point when researching an acquisition, a portfolio review, or an asking price.

You may already have encountered GoValue while searching for a domain at GoDaddy or reviewing a listing at Afternic. Domain Academy's bulk valuations and GoDaddy Auctions appraisals run on it, too, while the GoValue API lets users access higher-volume daily appraisals.

GoValue’s role remains the same: to provide a useful reference point as part of a broader valuation.

## Rebuilding GoValue from the ground up

We built this on an entirely new technology stack. Our machine learning team trained the model on hundreds of thousands of data points, working closely with our domains team for market knowledge and guidance. Over 9 months, we reimagined domain appraisals at GoDaddy.

The new model combines several types of technology and signals. Some of the many features we train it on include:

- **A large language model, or LLM:** helps interpret a domain's context, including its potential as a brand and its marketability.
- **Semantic signals:** consider the meaning of words and how they work together within a domain name.
- **Scarcity:** considers how rare a name or its characteristics are within the domain market.
- **Web presence:** includes keyword usage, extensions in use, and company usage, adding context about how names and terms are used online.
- **Market and trend signals:** account for trends in the domain market and changing interest in particular terms and extensions.

The LLM layer gives GoValue a way to understand context that the previous model did not have. That matters when assessing names whose appeal depends on the ideas or associations they carry.

By June 2026, we had a model we were ready to test internally and share for external feedback. That feedback is already shaping what comes next.

## A wider range for domain appraisals

One visible change is the increased appraisal limit. The previous $25,000 cap has risen to $1 million, with domains appraised above that amount displayed as $1,000,000+.

This gives the model more room to distinguish between high-value domains that previously reached the same ceiling.

The rebuilt model also gives greater consideration to market trends, including interest in .ai domains. That context helps it assess an individual name within a changing market. An extension alone does not determine a domain’s value.

## How appraisals fit into a valuation

An automated appraisal is one aspect of valuing a domain. It can help inform a decision, but it cannot guarantee what a particular buyer will pay.

At [NameFind, GoDaddy’s domain portfolio](https://www.godaddy.com/resources/skills/domain-name-pricing), for example, GoValue is one valuation point used alongside other demand signals, including inbound offers, views, and searches. Together, those signals provide a fuller picture of a domain’s marketability.

The same principle applies when reviewing your own domains. Consider the appraisal alongside evidence of buyer interest and your own research when deciding how to price a name or whether to pursue an acquisition.

## Where the new GoValue is available

The rebuild gave us a new model and a new API to deliver it. Moving each product over called for a deliberate, staged rollout.

We started on the GoValue page, then opened the new model to a small slice of GoDaddy search traffic to see it in action. By September 2026, it was live across 100% of search, with Afternic following in October.

**Product or tool ** | **New model availability **
--- | ---
GoValue page | Available now
GoDaddy search | Available now, subject to the display rules below
Afternic | Coming in Q4 2026
Domain Academy bulk valuations | Coming in Q4 2026
GoValue API | Coming in Q4 2026
GoDaddy Auctions | Coming in Q4 2026
Portfolio Manager | Coming in Q4 2026

In GoDaddy search, appraisals appear alongside new registrations and eligible Afternic listings. For an Afternic listing, GoValue appears only when the appraised value exceeds the Buy Now (BIN) price. If no BIN price is set, it appears only when the minimum offer is below the appraised value.

The new model draws on a wide range of training data, although comparable sales are not displayed with its appraisals yet. Once comparable sales have been refreshed for public use, we plan to make them available in places such as GoDaddy Auctions and Afternic.

## Help shape future GoValue updates

The rebuild gives us a new foundation to keep developing GoValue. The model is updated regularly, and external feedback brings perspectives that help inform future releases.

To share yours, visit the [GoValue page](https://www.godaddy.com/domain-value-appraisal) and request an appraisal for a domain. A survey will appear around 5 to 10 seconds after the appraisal.

That survey puts your feedback straight in front of the GoValue team, and it shapes what we build next.
