Backup and restore with Airo AI Builder
If something goes wrong while building or editing your site, Airo AI Builder offers recovery options. Restore an earlier version from Change History, recover site files or databases from a backup, or contact support for help with a deleted app. The best option depends on what happened and how far back you need to go.

Backup limitations
Airo AI Builder can help you recover site content, but some items are not included in backups or cannot be restored after they expire.
- Keep your own copies of images and files: Only the images and files you upload will be retained in Backups. Airo AI Builder does not permanently store images or logos between sessions unless you upload them yourself.
- Use AI credits before they expire: Purchased credits expire 1 year from the date of purchase and cannot be restored after expiration.
Restore a previous version
Restore a previous version of your site's content to undo AI-generated changes or edits you don't want. You can revert your site to any previously saved version.
- Go to your Airo AI Builder apps page and then select your app or site.
- Under the AI chat window, select
History. - Select the version you want to go back to, and then select Restore this version.
- Once restored, select Publish to make it live.
Restore from a backup
Restore your site's files, database, or both from an earlier date when you need to recover missing content, fix data corruption, or undo more significant issues affecting your site.
- Go to your Airo AI Builder apps page and then select your app or site.
- Under the AI chat window, select
Settings. - Select Backups from the Settings menu.
- Under Backups History, select View Backup Date.
- Choose a backup date, and then select Select.
- (Optional) Choose what to restore. You can restore the files, the databases, or both. If you're unsure, we recommend restoring everything by using the default Select All option.
- Select Restore.
- Once restored, select Publish to make it live.
Recover a deleted app or website
If an app or site has been completely deleted from the account, Airo AI Builder retains app records for up to 30 days. If the deletion happened within that timeframe, GoDaddy support may be able to recover the app.
- Contact support as soon as possible after the deletion. Our GoDaddy Guides are here to help.
- Have the following information ready:
- The domain name that was attached to the deleted app or site.
- The email address on the account.
- Approximately when the app or website was deleted.
- Support will investigate if recovery is possible.
What happens if I downgrade my plan?
If you downgrade from a paid Airo AI Builder plan to the free plan, your published app or site is not immediately deleted. Instead, your site goes offline temporarily, but your content is preserved.
If you return to Airo AI Builder and interact with your site or app again (or upgrade back to a paid plan), it can be restored.
Tips to avoid needing a restore
- Use Edit for simple edits: If you only need to change text, swap an image or adjust a color, use
Edit instead of typing a prompt. It's free, and Airo AI Builder can't make unintended changes when you're editing directly. Save the AI chat for complex tasks. - Be specific with your prompts: Vague instructions like "update my site" or "make it look better" can lead to broader changes than you intended. The more specific you are, the more predictable the result. See Airo AI Builder prompt best practices.
- Review AI changes before publishing: Airo AI Builder shows you a preview after the AI makes changes. Check it before selecting Publish.
- Keep copies of your images and files: Save any images, logos or files you uploaded to your site or app on your own device so you can re-upload them if needed.
- Don't delete your app unless you're certain: There is no undo button for deletion. Recovery requires contacting support, and is not guaranteed.
