Block user-agents from the Website Security firewall

The Website Security firewall can block access from visitors with a specific user-agent.

A user-agent refers to the application that is connecting to your site. For example it could be the browser that a normal visitor is using or the name of a bot that is crawling your site.

Required: If your dashboard looks different, you’re seeing the new version which does not have the ability to block requests by user-agent.
  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Under Website Security and Backups, next to the Website Security account you want to manage, select Manage.
  3. Under Firewall/CDN, select green_status Green Status, yellow_status Yellow Status, or red_status Red Status.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Select Access Control.
  6. Select Block User-Agents.
  7. Type the user-agent into the text box.
  8. Select Block to add the user-agent to the list.
  9. Block user-agent
Note: It's helpful to clear the cache after blocking a user-agent.
