Web Hosting (cPanel) Help

Set up Two-Factor Authentication in cPanel

You can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) in cPanel to add another layer of security to your sign-in process. 2FA authenticator apps provide one-time verification codes to access sites and apps.

Required: To set up 2FA, you must install an authenticator app on your smartphone or other device to generate your security code. We suggest the following authenticator apps based on your device's operating system:

Set up 2FA

  1. Sign in to cPanel.
  2. In the Security section, select Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Select Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. Scan the QR code with your device.
  5. (Optional) If you do not have a QR code reader, enter the Account and Key in the authenticator app on your device.
  6. In the Security Code field, enter the security code from your device.
  7. Select Configure Two-Factor Authentication.

You have successfully configured 2FA.

Remove 2FA

  1. Sign in to cPanel.
  2. In the Security section, select Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Select Remove Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. If you're sure you want to remove two-factor authentication, select Remove.

You have successfully removed 2FA.

Note: If you no longer want to use your authenticator app for this Web Hosting (cPanel) plan, you'll need to follow the directions specific to your authenticator app to remove the account from it.
