I'm attempting to install Ioncubes to make use of Wordpress plugins. I'm constantly running into permission issues since Godaddy Cloud doesn't have a root user or password option.
A simple cp command to move loader-wizard.php from my home directory to a public web directory is running into permission issues, i.e.:
cp /home/username/ioncube/loader-wizard.php /srv/users/serverpilot/apps/appname/public
cp: cannot create regular file '/srv/users/serverpilot/apps/appname/public/loader-wizard.php': Permission denied
Using this option https://www.godaddy.com/help/switching-to-the-root-user-on-your-linux-server-12330 I thought it would be possible to switch to a substitute user and get the permissions I need.
However when attempting to do this I'm am running into authentication failure, like the servers password is not the password it is looking for, so it seems like this solution is, again, not meant for Cloud servers. Or maybe I'm missing something.
Any help would be appreciated.
You should be able to escalate to the root account using the "sudo su -" command mentioned in the link you referred to in your post (https://www.godaddy.com/help/switching-to-the-root-user-on-your-linux-server-12330).
If you are still hitting permission errors, please provide more information about the errors from running the "su" command or contact our phone support and we would be happy to assist.
