Extended support for PHP version 7.4 and 8.0 with ZendPHP

WordPress has a thriving community of plugin and theme developers who have been contributing to the WordPress ecosystem for a long time. Throughout this, PHP has gone through its own development cycle to overcome threats and improve the quality of its functionality. Currently, WordPress requirements support PHP version 7.4 or greater.

PHP 7.4 was put into end-of-life (EOL) status at the end of 2022 by This EOL change put a lot of strain on WordPress developers to update their code to support the newest versions of PHP.

We understand that staying current with PHP standards can be a challenging situation. With that in mind, we have partnered with Zend to provide extended long-term support (LTS) for PHP versions 7.4 and 8.0! PHP 7.4 is already available and 8.0 will be available by the time moves it into end-of-life (EOL) status in November 2023.

This LTS from Zend will provide our customers who use PHP 7.4 and 8.0 with a secure experience on our WordPress hosting platforms until November 2026 for PHP 7.4 and December 2025 for PHP 8.0.

How can I find out which PHP version my site is using?

You can find your PHP version in several locations:

  • Managed WordPress hosting dashboard: Under Settings, select Production Site and PHP Version. You can update your PHP version here as well.
  • WordPress Dashboard: On the Home page, an admin message will display PHP Update Required. Follow the link to update your PHP version.
  • PHP info script: You can create a PHP info file and place it in the root directory of your WordPress site with an FTP app or a File Manager. Loading this file in your browser will display your PHP version info.
