What are my DNS settings for Microsoft 365?

To confirm that email is getting to you, make sure your Microsoft 365 domain’s DNS settings are set up correctly. You can access your DNS settings in the Email & Office Dashboard.

Select a tab to view the correct DNS settings depending on whether you have Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 with Advanced Email Security powered by Proofpoint.

  1. Sign in to your Email & Office Dashboard (use your GoDaddy username and password).
  2. Under Users, next to a user, select Manage.

  3. Under Manage, select Set Mail Destination. You’ll see a list of your domain’s DNS settings listed.
  4. Make sure the DNS records listed match what’s in your settings. The DNS records for Microsoft 365 are as follows:
    • 2 CNAME records
      NameTarget
      autodiscoverautodiscover.outlook.com
      emailemail.secureserver.net
    • 1 MX record
      HostPriorityTarget
      @0[yourdomain]-com.mail.protection.outlook.com
    • Required: The target value should include your domain. For example, if your domain is coolexample.com, your target value will be coolexample-com.mail.protection.outlook.com.
    • 2 TXT records
      NameTXT Value
      @v=spf1 include:secureserver.net -all
    • Note: We only have 1 TXT record listed here. There’s a second TXT record on your Set Mail Destination page starting with an “MS” and contains numbers (for example, MS=ms1234567). This record is unique to your domain and should already be in your DNS settings if you've set up Microsoft 365.
  5. When you’re finished viewing your settings, select Done.

    • Note: We only have 1 TXT record listed here. There’s a second TXT record on your Set Mail Destination page starting with an “MS” and contains numbers (for example, MS=ms1234567). This record is unique to your domain and should already be in your DNS settings if you've set up Microsoft 365.
  5. When you’re finished viewing your settings, select Done.
