About .LAWYER domains

All .LAWYER domains have the same requirements, restrictions, and supported features, such as registrations and renewals, transfers, and DNS.

Registrations and renewals

Anyone can register .LAWYER domains on a first-come, first-served basis.

You must provide the name, email address and phone number of an accrediting body if you intend to host legal services on a .LAWYER domain. An accrediting body is an authoritative, independent organization that checks and approves the groups that issue certifications.

New registrations

• Registration length: 1-10 years
• Must use: 1-63 characters
• Can use: Letters (a-z characters), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (except in the 3rd and 4th characters of the domain name)
• Cannot use: Special characters (e.g., & or #)
• IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names): Supported

Renewals

• Renewal length: 1-10 years
• You can manually renew your domain anytime before it expires. We'll attempt to auto-renew on the expiration date, and we'll park the domain after the first failed billing attempt. Redemption fees may be applied 12 days after expiration. Check out the standard expiration timeline for details on what happens after expiration.
