Upload files to my VPS Hosting using FTP and FileZilla
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) can be used to upload multiple files at once to your VPS Hosting. To use FTP, you must install a third-party FTP client, like FileZilla.
Note: If you're uploading just a few files, you can use cPanel's File Manager or Plesk's File Manager. If you're uploading hundreds of files or need to use root , you can use SSH.
- Go to WHM.
- In the left-menu, select Service Configuration, and then FTP Server Selection.
- Select a desired FTP server software, and then select Save.
- On your computer, open FileZilla.
- At the top-left, select File, and then Site Manager.
- Enter your FTP information.
Field Enter Host Your IP address Port 21 Encryption Only use plain FTP User Your FTP username (for example, jane@coolexample.com) - Select Connect.
- Enter your FTP password, and then select OK.
- Under Remote site, go to your desired directory.
- Under Local site, drag your files to your desired directory.
- Open FileZilla.
- At the top-left, select File and then Site Manager.
- Enter your FTP information.
Field Enter Host Your IP address Port 21 Encryption Only use plain FTP User Your FTP username (for example, jane) - Select Connect.
- Enter your FTP password, and then select OK.
- Under Remote site, go to your desired directory.
- Under Local site, drag your files to your desired directory.
At the bottom, you can select Successful transfer to see your successful file transfers.
