If bad things happen to your website, a saved backup file can restore your site to the way it was. You create a backup by regularly saving your website to a safe location, either manually or by setting up a backup service. Without a backup, you have to rebuild any file that you lose. If you lose database information, you may not be able to rebuild it.
But what if there's malware on the site? It can infect your website files and do nothing for a while. During that time, the malware is saved as part of your backups. Restoring your site with an infected backup puts the malware back onto your server. A disaster recovery service like GoDaddy's Website Security will remove the malware, restore your files and get your site back up and running for you.
How do I back up my site?
Do you prefer to back up the site on your own, or purchase a service to take care of it for you? Some products include backup files already:
