Error accessing uploaded files within Wordpress/WPFilebase

Our site was working fine and dandy and all was well until a couple of weeks ago, and now files that have been uploaded via WPFilebase are unable to be viewed.  Getting Site can't be reached, and "might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address."

I've checked, and the files exist in the correct path, with the correct capitalization.

The log shows "[Sat Jan 21 23:00:58.603993 2017] [access_compat:error] [pid 258285:tid 140691392902912] [client 71.71.226.201:55972] AH01797: client denied by server configuration: /home/sdfne/public_html/wp-content/uploads/filebase/testing/Winter-Dance-Flyer-2017-Flyer.pdf"

I've checked the permissions on the folder for this test file, and it appears to be aok.

This file/link exists and should display a PDF:

http://www.sdfne.org/wp-content/uploads/filebase/testing/Winter-Dance-Flyer-2017-Flyer.pdf

Anyone have any ideas?  Things were working fine before?  It's almost like PDFs are being flagged as bad?  I am running a Wordfence scan just in case.

Hello @callerpatty

I have click on your link

 http://www.sdfne.org/wp-content/uploads/filebase/testing/Winter-Dance-Flyer-2017-Flyer.pdf

and the PDF file was automatically downloaded to my pc, so from my perspective everything works just fine.

What exactly are you trying to do? You want the file to be downloaded by your visitors or do you want to display it inside your WP site?

If you want to display the PDF inside a page, then you might need this plugin or another.

Good luck.

🙂
