Backorders and monitoring are being retired
Domain backordering is a method to acquire a registered domain and monitoring lets you know when a domain's settings change. GoDaddy will be retiring our backorder and monitoring programs on October 7, 2025.
Select a question to see its answer:
- What's being retired and when?
- What other ways can I acquire domains?
- What happens to my existing backorder credits?
- Is there another option for monitoring?
- What if I have more questions?
What's being retired and when?
Starting October 7, 2025, you won't be able to place a backorder on a domain or track domain changes using our monitoring service. Backorder credits haven't been available for purchase since August 8, 2024.
What other ways can I acquire domains?
More customers than ever are using GoDaddy Auctions® to acquire expired or closeout domains quickly and efficiently, and with over 35,000 new domains added every day, GoDaddy Auctions® is an effective way to find and purchase the domains you want.
What happens to my existing backorder credits?
You can use existing backorder credits until October 7, 2025, after which, any remaining credits will be removed for your account. Assigning backorder credits to a GoDaddy Auctions® win is also an option to help you secure the domains you want.
Is there another option for monitoring?
There are multiple domain monitoring tools available to help you keep an eye on domains you're interested in, but GoDaddy will no longer offer monitoring services. You'll no longer receive updates or notifications for any domains you're currently monitoring.
What if I have more questions?
