Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) for VPS Hosting
WebPros (the company behind cPanel and Plesk) have marked several operating systems (OS) as end of life (EOL), which is a standard practice, but often means EOL versions no longer receive updates. To prevent the immediate vulnerabilities and service disruptions that can occur after an EOL, GoDaddy has partnered with WebPros to offer Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) through January 1, 2026 on eligible OS, giving you extra time to use your VPS Hosting and eventually migrate to a new OS.

What is ELS?
ELS is a paid service that provides important security updates and support after an OS reaches EOL.
- Without ELS: Your OS may stop receiving important updates and patches, leading to security vulnerabilities and service disruptions. This can cause frustration and a rush to transition to the latest versions.
- With ELS: You'll receive necessary security updates and extra time to update or migrate to a newer OS.
Which OS are eligible for ELS?
| OS | WHM/cPanel | Plesk |
|---|---|---|
| CentOS 7 | ✔ | ✔ |
| Ubuntu 18.04 | — | ✔ |
| Debian 12 | — | ✔ |
Is my VPS Hosting affected?
You can view your VPS Hosting OS in your GoDaddy account.
- Sign in to your GoDaddy product page.
- In your My Products page, select Servers.
- Next to the VPS Hosting you want to use, select Manage.
- Under your VPS Hosting name, view your OS and compare it to the ELS OS.
What should I do next?
If you want the extra time to transition to a new OS, no immediate action is required. If you're on an eligible OS, the service will be automatically added to your VPS Hosting. We do recommend eventually updating or migrating to a new OS before the end of ELS.
What's the price of ELS?
ELS is 4.99 USD per month. Once added, it'll be billed on your VPS Hosting's next renewal date. If you have multiple VPS Hosting plans, ELS will be added to each VPS Hosting that's using an eligible OS.
When does ELS end?
ELS for VPS Hosting is scheduled to end on January 1, 2026. We highly recommend you update or migrate to a new OS before this date. You can also check out the ELS program from cPanel and Plesk for information on dates for your control panel.
What if I don't want ELS?
You'll need to update or migrate to a supported OS before it's added to your VPS Hosting. If you don't update or migrate before then, ELS will have been automatically added, and it'll be billed on your VPS Hosting's next renewal date.
How do I update or migrate my OS?
You have several options available to update or migrate your OS yourself.
- Migrate to a new VPS Hosting: You can migrate to a new VPS Hosting with a supported OS, and then delete your old VPS Hosting.
- Update your existing VPS Hosting (CentOS 7 only): Check out how to update your OS using ELevate. After updating with ELevate, go to your GoDaddy product page, select Servers, select Manage next your VPS Hosting, select Settings, and then select Refresh.
