Why is my hosting account being migrated?
These hardware changes will provide faster load times and a more balanced environment for your sites and content.
What can I expect from the migration process?
We'll move all your data during the migration process and notify you via email before and after the migration. Brief downtime may occur during the switch, but we'll minimize it as much as possible. These are the things that will migrate:
- Plesk IP addresses (no action from you is required)
- All your data (no action from you is required)
- All Plesk and IIS configurations (no action from you is required). This includes:
- FTP users
- Backup schedules
- PHP settings
- IIS hosting settings
- SSL certificates
- All MYSQL databases (connection strings to MYSQL databases may need to be updated)
- All MSSQL databases (connection strings to MSSQL databases may need to be updated)
mysql_native_password caching plugin (in favor of caching_sha2_password) in MySQL 8.4, which may affect you. To resolve, you must recreate your MYSQL user(s). You may use the same user and password combination, but until the user is recreated, you may experience connectivity errors. You can find information on managing database users in this article: Create MySQL/MS-SQL databases in Windows Hosting.Do I need to change my FTP password?
No. You do not need to change your FTP password. All your FTP passwords will be migrated.
Do I need to update my DNS?
No. You do not need to update your domain's DNS. To ensure the smoothest possible experience, we'll update the DNS for you.
Will the web server software change?
No. This is a hardware upgrade and will not involve any changes to server software.
When is the migration happening?
Your migration will occur between March 2026 and October 2026. Email notifications will be sent out before the start of your migration.
Can I reschedule my migration?
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests to reschedule migrations.
Will my cost or renewal date change as a result of this migration?
No. Your cost and renewal date will not change as a result of this migration.
Do I need to update my MySQL database connection strings?
If your MySQL database connection strings were written with the server's IP address (for example, 192.0.2.1) rather than the hostname (for example, example_mysql_hostname.secureserver.net), you'll need to update your connection string to use the correct hostname for your database.
To find your MySQL database's hostname, follow these steps: View database details for my Windows Hosting.
Do I need to update my MSSQL database connection strings?
If your MSSQL database connection strings were written with the server's IP address (for example, 192.0.2.1) rather than the hostname (for example, example_mssql_hostname.secureserver.net), you'll need to update your connection string to use the correct hostname for your database.
You can find your MSSQL database's hostname by following these steps: View database details for my Windows Hosting.
