Understand the website editor

Step 1 of Build my first website with Websites + Marketing

Let's explore the website editor to help you get familiar with its key features. To open the editor:

1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
2. Scroll down, expand Websites + Marketing and select Manage next to your site.
3. Select Edit Website. You should now be on a page that looks something like the one below.
   

Center preview area

This is where you preview your current website’s content, structure and elements. In this interactive space you can:

• Add sections to the page
• Delete sections from the page
• Move sections up or down
• Edit text directly in the preview area (depending on the text, this may include adjusting fonts, colors and sizing; adding links and creating lists)
• Select elements and then edit them in the right panel (elements include social media links, images, text, buttons, etc.)
• Select the chat widget to adjust its settings

When you select any element in the center preview area, the right panel shows you all the ways you can customize it.

This panel also lets you:

1. View a list of your current pages and add more pages.
   
2. Change your website theme, which updates your site's overall look without affecting your content.
   
3. Manage where your site is published or unpublish it entirely.
   
4. Manage your site profile, which includes your basic information and options to:
   • Add social media links
   • Add a favicon (a unique icon that shows in the browser tab when somebody visits your website)
   • Add keywords to help you get found on search engines
   • View a record of your website history and create a backup
   
5. Set up tracking options for your website, which help you monitor its performance.
   

The SHORTCUTS section contains tools specific to your plan and business type. You may see options for:

• Online store settings
• Appointment booking tools
• Blog posts and settings
• Promotions
• Marketing features
• Chat settings
• Popup message controls

Top menu

This section gives you quick access to useful functions:

• Select Website Builder to find links relevant to your Websites + Marketing plan (could include domain, email, appointments, social, marketing, commerce, Conversations unified inbox, customers, deals and more).
• Preview, publish or unpublish your website
• Get helpful guidance on next steps for your website
