Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy Ayuda

Reset my multi-factor authentication method

If an admin or user loses access to their multi-factor authentication (MFA) method, like if they’ve lost their phone or uninstalled their authenticator app, an admin can reset their MFA and clear their methods.

Note: These instructions are for Microsoft 365 accounts. If you lost access to the method used to sign in to your GoDaddy account, cancel two-step verification (2SV) instead.

Select the Email & Office tab, and follow the steps there first. If you have any issues, you can try the steps in the Entra admin center tab instead.

  1. Sign in to your Email & Office Dashboard (use your GoDaddy username and password).
  2. Next to a user, select Manage.
  3. Under Manage, select Reset MFA.
The Reset MFA button highlighted on the user Manage page.
  4. When asked to confirm that you want to reset the user’s MFA, select Reset. You’ll see a success message. If you get an error after selecting Reset, follow the steps in the Entra admin center tab.

MFA will be reset for the user, and all their methods will be cleared. The next time they sign in, they’ll need to add a new method.

Required: Admins cannot reset their own MFA methods using the Entra admin center. Please follow the steps in the Email & Office tab instead.
Warning: Please follow these steps carefully. Making changes in the Microsoft Entra admin center outside of these steps can cause issues that our GoDaddy Guides may not be able to help you fix. See our Statement of Support.
  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center. Use your Microsoft 365 email address and password (your GoDaddy username and password won't work here).
  2. Under Identity, select Users, and then All users.
Select All users in Microsoft Entra
  3. Select the Display name of the user.
  4. Under Manage, select Authentication methods.
    Select Authentication methods under Manage
  5. Select Revoke multifactor authentication sessions (you might have to select three dots more menu More first).
Select revoke multifactor authentication sessions from dropdown
  6. Select Require re-register multifactor authentication.
  7. To confirm, select OK.
    Select OK to confirm

The user will be prompted to set up their new MFA during their next sign in. The user whose sign-in method was reset will need to delete the method they can no longer access.

If you are having issues resetting your MFA method using the steps in both tabs, please contact a GoDaddy Guide for help.
