About .cl domains

All .cl domains have the same requirements, restrictions, and supported features, such as registrations and renewals, transfers, and DNS.

Note: Key Systems is the registrar of record for .cl domains registered through GoDaddy and will be listed as the registrar on WHOIS.

Registrations and renewals

Registration of .cl domains is limited to companies and organizations that reside in Chile. The administrative contact must have an address in Chile and provide an RUT ID.

Required: Email verification must be completed to activate new .cl registrations by following the instructions sent to the registrant email address, otherwise the domain will be suspended and may be deleted by the registry.

New registrations

  • Registration length: 1-10 years
  • Must use: 1-63 characters
  • Can use: Letters (a-z characters), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (except in the 3rd and 4th characters of the domain name)
  • Cannot use: Special characters (e.g., & or #)
  • IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names): Not Supported

Renewals

  • Renewal length: 1-10 years
  • You can manually renew your domain anytime before expiration. We'll attempt to auto-renew 20 days before expiration, and we'll park the domain after the first failed billing attempt. Redemption fees may be applied 6 days before expiration. Check out the standard expiration timeline for details on what happens after expiration.

Cancel the .cl domain in your GoDaddy account and then contact a GoDaddy Guide to complete the process.
